My Story

As a former 650 pound man, I know what's it's like to hate yourself. I also know, if you ever wish to get back your life, you must learn to embrace the beauty of life, and learn to love yourself,

That's how my journey back to radio, love, and life began.

The more I concentrated on the good, the more motivated I became. The more I became thankful to the man upstairs, the more he gave to me. That's how it started; I simply refused to become angry and bitter. I would not let food control me or my life. Nor was I returning to that 650 pound prison. I lived it, I knew what it was like to give up and I wasn't going back.

Today, I like to think I'm proof that nothing is impossible. Did losing weight bring me happiness? No. Happiness allowed me to care enough to lose the weight. Its just that simple. We have to fix the inside before we can fix the outside. We need to work on our heart and mind first, heal our hurt and then tackle the road to physical health.

You can watch videos and read every weight loss book on the market. A trainer can tell you how to exercise, how to eat and how to live healthier, but until you come face to face with that man/woman in the mirror, have a heart to heart talk, none of it will matter. I can't make you be happy. I can, however, make people laugh, help them to see the funny side to life, but its you who has to want it. You have to do the work.

I'm a new man today. I'm alive. I can breath, I can walk, I can see and smell. I wake up everyday and see the beautiful world around me. I feel love like never before and I appreciate the life that I've been given. But most importantly, I take great joy in being able to say to you with utmost certainty: You. Can. Too.

If you've lost your way, have faith, and with a little effort and help from above, dreams can happen. I'm living proof.

Early summer (2022), we plan to finally release "The Giant in Me" in print and e- reader, accompanied by a 60 day wellness journal shortly after meant to assist readers while on their own path to health and happiness.

I'm very proud of the work my pretty girl, Patricia Garber (co-writer), and I have done with this project. It's been a long road, filled with life's most challenging days, times of grief and strife, as well as growth and knowledge.  Both Patricia and I have fought against life's challenges, but we believe the personal growth over these last few years have only enriched the story. A Devine plan? We think so, as only one truth has kept this project alive, and that's that God constructed it and we are merely here to share it, openly and truly, so that others can heal.

"We thank you all for your support of love and encouragement over the years! And we cannot wait to share the story with you and the world." ~ Dan and Patricia
